The end of the world as we know it. Why is this good news?

--

The past year may have been the best year of my life. You might ask yourself how I could even say that in light of all the suffering which occurred in 2020. The answer is very simple: I became a dad.

This life changing event, however, has been overshadowed by a new global state which we are all faced with and which has changed much of our lives. The situation, as I see it, has 3 main perspectives:

o A pandemic that is changing our lives to an unrecognizable degree. Humans are faced with less social interaction and an entirely changed work environment; not to mention that many are suffering from anxiety/ depression. This is on top of the suffering caused by the virus itself.

o The global recession of our lifetimes which is resulting in massive unemployment all over the world as well as an estimated doubling of extreme poverty & child malnutrition. Governments & central banks are increasing the monetary supply to save zombie economies while indirectly stealing from people. Ironically enough, this has led to new record highs in the stock market.

o A shift in global power structures with a tumbling US democracy on centerstage! A broken trust relationship between people and their corrupt governments/ democracies is revealing itself. A strong polarization in public opinion due to the consumption of algorithmically filtered media content is escalating conflicts. In addition, tech giants manifest their power by taking advantage of the need for fast digitalization while wiping out older businesses.

Considering everything that is going on, undoubtedly 2020 will go down in the history books as the year in which humanity took a turn.

Now how can all this be good news? I believe that whenever the old dies, a new will emerge. In light of all the global problems facing humanity, the few mentioned above not even topping the list, anything short of a massive transformation will not steer humanity into a sustainable direction. I believe, human ingenuity paired with enough time will undoubtedly give birth to a new social contract and a new kind of society. This new society will offer new pathways and solutions to today’s most pressing challenges.

For short and midterm, however, the waters will be rough. Change is always accompanied by challenges and struggles. This holds true on a global as well as a personal level.

My advice for all of us is to be patient and keep on working on oneself. Your own being is the sole source of happiness and personal development. Few understand this.

Another topic that few understand is that Bitcoin will facilitate this transformation and become increasingly important in our lives. It is by orders of magnitude the best monetary technology known to man. If you use it as a store of value, it will stand by your side as rocksolid money that guards your personal wealth through these rough times. So, please do yourself a favor, learn about it and buy some Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is — in my opinion — the biggest source of hope for humanity.

Buy Bitcoin. Be strong. Be healthy.

Peace.

P.S. Today, two years ago I arrived at the ECB in Frankfurt after my 10 year bitcoin anniversary bike tour, called Tour de Satoshi. Here’s the story on why I did that. With Tour de Satoshi I started team satoshi to create awareness for bitcoin. Here’s the story on why I started team satoshi.
